Food Service and Lunch Menus

Lake Superior School District Food Services

The district is excited to offer a completely new selection of mostly scratch-made lunches this school year.  As we work to develop our new menu we’ll only be listing the next couple of weeks of meals here.  Check out our recipes and nutrition information here: https://whi.sk/q0NxQ

Please note that the COVID meal waiver is no longer in effect; if you don’t qualify for free/reduced meals, you will need to load money into your student’s lunch account.
Current prices are listed below:

K – $0.00
1-12 – $1.50

K-5 – $2.80
6-12 – $3.05

At Lake Superior School District, we strive to provide nutritious meals every day and meet patterns established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

School lunch menus include hot entrees, salads, sandwiches, vegetables, fruits, bread, milk and dessert items.  Food selections and items vary between elementary and secondary schools.

Menu Note:  Our produce options may be limited for a while as a direct result of the hurricanes and other natural disasters that have occurred.

Attention Parents

The meal accounting system for Lake Superior School District is a pre-paid system.  All meals are paid for by depositing money into the individual student account before meals are served. We consider a $5.00 balance a “low student balance.”  If the money remaining in the account falls below $5.00, the student will be reminded verbally.  Once your child’s account reaches -$5.00, the household is sent a message through an automated calling system.  Balances (positive and negative) from the previous school year will carry over into the current year.  It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian and student to ensure that students have adequate money in their account.  The school is under no obligation to continue to serve children whose parent or guardian will not pay for their meals or fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Benefits Application.  You may deposit money for your child’s food service account at any building’s main office or by going on line through Parent Portal on our website:  www.isd381.org.  If you are sending a check or cash for more than one child, please specify how you would like this money applied.

You may monitor your child’s lunch account by using our Parent Portal System.  Through Parent Portal, you may view your child’s lunch account balance and purchases.  Parent Portal is the same program used for viewing your child’s attendance, grades, etc.  If you haven’t utilized Parent Portal and would like to start, please contact our Technology Department at 218-834-8201, ext.8299.

Do your part to bring additional funding to our school district

Applications for free and reduced meals are available on line (link above), at your child’s school or the District Office.  All households are encouraged to apply. In order for your school to receive extra federal funding, our district must submit your application to the federal government by October 1st each school year.  You may turn in an application at any time during the year, but applications sent to the federal government after that time will not help schools receive extra funding.  Eligibility is for the current school year only; you must reapply each school year.
