Special Education Referral Process and Information

Lake Superior School District #381 Special Education Services (“Specialized Instruction”)

ISD #381offers special education services in a variety of settings, as determined appropriate by the students Individual Education Team (IEP). These settings include, but are not limited to:

* General Education Classrooms/Settings (including child cares and community preschools for identified children birth to Kindergarten entrance)
* Special Education Resource Rooms
* Homebound (for students age 6-21)
* Home (for students age Birth -5)
* Level III Program (for student’s grades 6-12 when the IEP/IFSP/IIIP team determines that a student needs to be served in a more “Restrictive” setting.)
* In instances where an IEP/IFSP/IIIP team determines that a student needs to be served in a more “Restrictive” setting (some level III and IV), we have contracted with nearby districts to provide the service to ensure that the student is as close to “home” as possible.
